Bury Grammar School was delighted to present a cheque of over one thousand pounds to Rochdale and District Mind following our Heartbeat Bury event in October.
Rochdale and District Mind were the girls' chosen charity for Heartbeat Bury, which saw them taking part in a range of activities relating to living a healthy lifestyle and running distances of up to 5000 metres.
Paula Hall, Information Services Co-ordinator for Rochdale and District Mind, said: “On behalf of Rochdale and District Mind, I would like to personally thank all the students that took part in Heartbeat Bury. We received a wonderful amount of donations totaling £1090.87 which will go towards our Open Young Minds Service. This service provides support for young people aged 12 - 21 years old living in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale who have mild to moderate emotional health issues”
Mrs S Howard, Head of PSHEE at BGS, said: "The Heartbeat Bury event is a fantastic way for our Year 7 pupils to learn about the importance of physical and mental well-being and to put their learning into practice through the sponsored run. I am so pleased that our Year 7 girls raised such a wonderful amount of money for Rochdale & District Mind and they should be very proud of themselves. Thank you to Paula Hall for visiting us on Monday and speaking to the girls in assembly about emotional well-being and the importance of taking time to listen."
