BGSB win Daily Politics mug in 'Guess the Year' competition

Each week, as part of their studies, A-Level Politics students at Bury Grammar School Boys watch Prime Minister's Questions live from Westminster.

HM the Queen is also believed to be a regular viewer. Just before this weekly dose of political cut and thrust, the host of the BBC's 'Daily Politics' programme, Andrew Neil, introduces a short film of memorable events from the past and asks viewers to 'guess the year'.

The prize is a prestigious 'Daily Politics' mug.

Generations of BGSB Politics students have faithfully submitted their correct answers but have never been lucky enough to be selected - until last week.

School Captain Joe Edgar's name was read out by Andrew Neil and his name appeared in lights.

The mug is now the proud possession of the History and Politics Department.
