We are delighted to announce that the Captain of School for Bury Grammar School Boys 2018 – 2019 is Hashim Tahir and the Vice Captain of School will be Sam Lambert.
Hashim and Sam were appointed following a four stage selection process in which they were up against a number of outstanding, committed and talented Bury Grammar boys.
As part of the selection procedure the boys were required to give a speech to their peers and undergo an interview by an interview panel comprising three senior teachers. Pupils and staff were able to vote and the final decision was extremely difficult due to the superb performances of all the candidates.
I have no doubt that Hashim and Sam are going to be excellent role models to the boys and wider school community. Both boys demonstrated a very real loyalty to the school during their interview and were grateful for the opportunities which the school has afforded them. They showed great humility in being offered the posts and I was extremely impressed by their very obvious strength of character throughout the selection process.
I know that the boys and staff will support them in their new roles and will be very pleased for what they have achieved.
Hashim, Captain of School 2018-2019, said ‘I am truly humbled by having the honour of School Captain bestowed upon me. There is a great responsibility that comes with this role and I endeavour to do my utmost for the school, staff and pupils. I’ve always believed showing perseverance and passion can make the impossible, possible for any student at this school.’
Sam, Vice Captain of School 2018-19, said 'I am very privileged to be chosen as Vice Captain of School, a role I never thought I would a achieve.'
