We are delighted to announce that the Head Girl of Bury Grammar School Girls for 2018-19 will be Isobel Lewis and the Deputy Head Girl will be Iram Sultan.
Isobel and Iram were appointed following a rigorous selection process in which they were up against a number of outstanding, committed and talented Bury Grammar girls.
Girls applied for this prestigious position by letter, gave a speech to their peers in the Roger Kay Hall and were interviewed by a panel comprised of four senior teachers. Pupils and staff were able to vote and the final decision – given the superb performances and strong applications from so many girls - was an extremely difficult one. These girls are clearly going to be fabulous role models as they become the senior year group in the School.
Girls’ love of the school and gratitude for all that a BGSG education has given them shone through in all the presentations and interviews.
Isobel, Head Girl 2018-19, said ‘I am truly delighted to be the new Head Girl. Bury Grammar School has been my second home since I was four years old and has provided me with amazing opportunities and wonderful friendships. We have a strong, supportive, diverse community of girls and I am very proud to represent the school alongside all of them.’
Iram, Deputy Head Girl 2018-19 added, ‘I would like to thank all the school for their support. I am extremely excited to take on this role and to work with such an amazing group of girls.’
Further prefect announcements will be made next week.
