Open events are always a proud moment as a Head of Junior School. I sincerely love to open our doors to both current and prospective parents and genuinely enjoy talking about our greatest asset; the boys! I have said many times that education is a journey and not a destination and I am delighted to have our Year 5 and 6 boys complete tours as part of their ambassador and leadership training that they enjoy at BGSB. The compliments our boys receive from parents are nothing short of outstanding; articulate, confident, informative, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, are all words that I hear and are testament to the work that goes into providing an educational experience that goes beyond the academic. I hope to see some of you tomorrow and do please share with friends what a wonderful school your son attends.
This week I have again enjoyed walking around the school and viewing some dynamic and stretching lessons. Whether it be electrical safety, biographies of famous women, or practical maths, the boys are being given breadth and challenge. They are simply loving learning at school!
Monday night saw the Year 6 Transitional evening as part of our strategy to communicate effectively with our current parent body. I was delighted to be available to welcome our parents and am positive that those who attended cemented their desire to send their sons to Senior School.
Our staff cake sale last week went down very well with the boys and raised £67 for MacMillan Cancer support. My thanks to the staff for their excellent baking skills!
The Interim Assessment grades will be sent home next week. The first set of grades should provide you with a clear sense of the effort that your son is putting into his studies at school. You will then have the opportunity to talk with staff about the start to the year that your son has made at our Parents’ Evenings on 7th and 8th November. Letters will be sent home next week to arrange timings and we look forward to welcoming you into school. Attainment and progress information will be delivered at the end of the Autumn term.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
