The educational journey in our family of schools concludes here for our sixth formers with outstanding results in their A Levels. More than a third of our students achieved the elite A and A * grades and many students’ hard work have culminated in them exceeding all expectations.
A stunning thirty-nine students obtained a string of A*s, As and Bs, setting them up for places at prestigious universities. In all, the vast majority of BGS students will be embarking upon their first choice course at the highest performing universities. The overall pass rate for both boys and girls at A Level is 100%.
Many students also took the prestigious Extended Project Qualification which provides an opportunity for students to extend their abilities beyond the A-Level syllabus, and enables them to stand out in qualifications for university or their future career. An exceptional 93% of the students achieved an A in their EPQ.
Bury Grammar School's winning combination of high aspirations, excellent teaching and hard work in a happy and supportive atmosphere where all achievements are recognised and individuals' talents nurtured, is one of the keys to our students' success.
Principal & Headmistress Mrs Jo Anderson commented: "A Level results day is one of those dates in the diary which can change people's lives. It has been amazing - I've seen tears of joy, been hugged by parents and lost count of the number of students who said they couldn't believe their results. Our teachers and support staff have all been in School today to offer words of congratulations and advice. We really do know how to look after our students and it's been another day where we've all been really proud to be part of BGS. Behind the headlines are many stories of students who have overcome adversity and greatly outperformed expectations and we are immensely proud of all of them."
Headmaster Mr Devin Cassidy added: "It has been an immensely satisfying day for me as the new Headmaster. To see the look on the boys' faces as they have opened their results and in many cases the disbelief at their success is a pleasure and a delight. Well done to all our students who have achieved individual successes today: my colleagues and I are very proud of you. Well done also to my colleagues; the boys owe much of their success to you. Finally thank you to parents for entrusting your sons’ education to us - I hope you are proud of the result!"
