Outstanding work showcased at BGSB 'Flight' Art Exhibition

By Miss K A Gore

Last night was our annual art exhibition, showcasing all GCSE and A Level work that our students have been working on over the last year.

As ever, the exhibtion was buzzing with visitors both past, present (and future in some cases).

Pictures of the artwork can be found here.

I love this time of year, when you get to see the pride on the faces of these students as they show their work to their family and friends. The exhibition contained Geometric Abstraction paintings from the Yr10 students, Yr11 coursework and Externally Set Assignment projects consisting of art disciplines from painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and installation. In the Sixth Form Studio, we had an amazing body of work from our A Level students producing installations from lines of enquiries titled 'Interaction and Manipulation" and 'Distortion of Form'.

Many visitors, some of whom are Art graduates themselves, commented on the standard of the work and our students should be incredibly proud of themselves.

On behalf of the Art Department, I’d like to thank Denise Hall, Dianna Baily, and Enid Grierson for all their day to day help in the department and supporting our students with this exhibition. Miss Frisby for helping install the paintings and photography on the night and the four muscle men - Mr Curr, Mr Boyd, Mr Purdy and Mr Hall.... when furniture needed to be moved!

'Flight’ exhibition is open for one week.
