Several BGS winners at the Ramsbottom Music Festival 2019!

Congratulations to all of our talented musicians who took part in the Ramsbottom Music Festival at the weekend - we had lots of winners!

The BGS Boys' Chamber Choir won The Marshalls Mono Trophy in the Primary Choirs/Part Singing section with their performances of A Cat Called Alexander by J.G. Jespersen and Go the Distance by A. Menken.

Scarlett (Year 6) won The John Calverley Memorial Trophy for her Woodwind Solo Grade 3 standard performance of From Ragtime to Riches by M. Nightingale and The Irish Washerwoman - Trad. irish.

She also finished 2nd in the Elisabeth Sykes Trophy - a Strings Solo Grade 3 standard event. This was won by fellow BGS pupil Leticia (Year 6) for her violin performance of Over the Rainbow by H. Arlen. Olivia (Year 4) also competed in this section and Eddie (Year 6) finished 3rd behind the two girls.

Alfie (Year 5) performed superbly to win The Cope Engineering Trophy - a Piano Solo Grade 4 standard event. Alfie performed Allegretto by M. Clementi and Ballade by J.F.F. Burgmuller. Alfie also won the ABC Trophy for Vocal Solo Age 11 and Under by singing Cara Mio Ben by Giordani.

Leila (Year 9) was victorious in The SB Nulty, M Lea & AJ Bates (Dentist) Trophy - the Standard Classical/Folk Vocal Solo section for 14-16 year-olds. Her winning performance was O though that tellest good tidings to Zion by G.F. Handel.

Katie (Year 9) was victorious in the Woodwind Solo Grade 6 standard category. She won The B&C Gregory Trophy with her performances of Polonaise by J.S. Bach and One Part Invention by J. Rae on the flute.

Kofi (Year 11) won The Jeannie Lee Trophy in the Popular/Light Vocal Age 14 to 16 section with his performance of Some enchanted evening by O. Hammerstein & R. Rodgers.

Sixth Form students Jay and Emily won The Kay's of Ramsbottom trophy with their duets of All I ask of you by A. Lloyd Webber and Suddenly Seymour by A. Menken. Jay also won his solo light vocal class.

In The John Sellars Memorial Trophy, Scarlett (Year 6) finished 2nd and Ethan (Year 4) finished 3rd.

BGS girls Isabel R, Hannah L, Sophia M and Lucy K all finished joint 2nd in the Popular/Light Vocal Age 12 to 13 category for The Kenyon Trophy.

Joseph (Year 4) claimed 3rd in The Dunscar Timber Trophy for Grade 1 Strings while William (Year 7) and Alexander (Year 8) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in The Grimshaw's Vauxhall Trophy.

Genevieve (Year 7) came 2nd in the Grade 6 String Class.
