We are delighted to announce the appointment of two well-known and highly respected members of our school community to the Sixth Form Leadership Team from June 2019.
Mrs Holly Hammond will be our Head of Sixth Form and Mr David Newbury will be our Deputy Head of Sixth Form.
Mrs Hammond has already played a pivotal role within our Sixth Form and our School as a whole, as Head of Year 12, Deputy Head of Sixth Form, and of course as the talented director of our wonderful School Productions. Mrs Hammond is a very popular member of our School community, and she has enjoyed tremendous success at both GCSE and A Level. As an expert in UCAS, Mrs Hammond is instrumental in helping our students achieve places at their chosen universities. Mrs Hammond is already making exciting plans for current and future Sixth Form students and is looking forward to taking on her new role: ‘I am delighted to have been appointed Head of Bury Grammar School Sixth Form. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the Sixth Form team and I am looking forward to leading and supporting our excellent teaching staff and talented students. I am pleased our students aim high and I am right behind them.’
Mr David Newbury has a similar record of outstanding academic and pastoral success, as Assistant Head of Sixth Form, Head of Year 11, and Designated Safeguarding Lead. Mr Newbury is perhaps better known to students across our whole School as Contingent Commander of the CCF. Mr Newbury is delighted to be taking on another leading role at BGS: ‘The Sixth Form at Bury Grammar School is a very special place and I am excited to guide our senior pupils to develop a true love of learning and provide an excellent foundation for the next stage in their academic journey.’
Mrs Hammond and Mr Newbury will make an exceptional team, bringing expertise, energy and enthusiasm to their roles as leaders of our fabulous young adults in Year 12 and Year 13. BGS Sixth Form is in excellent hands!
