Year 12 and Year 13 Mathematicians and Further Mathematicians took part in the UKMT Senior Mathematics Challenge on Tuesday 7 November.
The Challenge, which is designed to promote and test problem solving abilities, takes place every year in schools throughout the United Kingdom.
Papers contain extremely challenging multiple choice questions, with incorrect answers being penalised – meaning that guessing is out of the question!
Students are hoping to emulate results from previous years, when numerous BGS entries have achieved Gold, Silver or Bronze awards, with many Gold awardees going on to qualify for the follow-on Olympiad or Kangaroo papers.
Results will be received over the next few weeks, with qualifiers taking part in further rounds in the early part of December.
Lower Year groups will sit the Intermediate and Junior Maths Challenges later in the academic year.
