Philanthropy can make the difference between a good school and an outstanding one.
Bury Grammar School has long been at the heart of the Bury community and we are rightly proud of our rich and illustrious history. BGS has thrived owing to a tradition of philanthropy and benefaction dating back to the School’s original founding, around 1570.
The Development Office team are committed to working with the BGS Community to increase engagement and activity and to build a culture of sharing and giving of time, talent and financial support. We rely upon the generosity of our community and we regularly host fundraising events and instigate business links to gain support for the School.
The generous gifts from all of our benefactors and donors allow us to achieve our mission through the provision of Bursaries and by funding projects to preserve and enhance Bury Grammar School's magnificent 45-acre campus and facilities. The School is a registered charity and, as an Independent School, has received no new funding from the Government since 1997. This means that our fundraising facility is one of necessity in order to preserve and maintain all that is BGS.
Currently, we have two major fundraising campaigns:
With your help we can make a difference, not only to the life of individual students but also to the whole BGS community.
In this section you can find out more about our fundraising activities, as well as details on how you can help. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the School’s fundraising programme, please do not hesitate to contact Alison Holland, Head of Communications:
