Swimming success for Lauren and Emma

Swimming success for Lauren and Emma

Earlier this year, after outstanding performances at the North West Regional Championships, two of our pupils qualified for the Swim England Nationals held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Emma, Year 9 and Lauren, Year 10 who train with the City of Salford Swim Club, both achieved new PBs in both the run up to and during the competition.

Emma qualified for the 50m freestyle but during her heat narrowly missed out on a place in the final.

However, she was placed 16th in her age category in England.

Lauren qualified for three events and managed to secure a place in the final for two of them.

In the 50m backstroke where, after another PB, she gained a silver medal and also places her 13th in Britain in this category.

Lauren also qualified for the final in 100m backstroke where she, again, swam another excellent race, gained another PB and another silver medal! Their performances during the 17/18 season has meant that both girls have been selected for the Swim England Talent programme next season.

Well done girls!
