Three Junior Boys compete in the British Youth Fencing Championships

Three BGS Junior Boys competed in the British Youth Fencing Championships at The Manchester Fencing Centre on Saturday.

Daniel Jeeves, Alex Edlinger and Eddie Sung represented Salle Kiss Fencing Club (the BGS after school sport provider) in the Under 10s Championship.

All three boys did exceptionally well and showed great comradeship and sportsmanship throughout the day.

In the initial qualifying rounds, Daniel scored enough points to automatically win a place in the semi-finals.

Alex and Eddie went on to fence in the quarter finals, but unfortunately Alex was knocked out.

In the semi-finals,  Daniel and Eddie were selected to battle against each other for a place in the final and, after a tense 10-minute match, Eddie won by just one point more than Daniel and went through to the final where he played against a boy from Isle of Man Fencing Club.

At the end of the championship, Daniel took the bronze medal, Eddie Song took silver and the boy from the Isle of Man Fencing Club won gold.

Well done to all three boys!
