‘Understanding the World’ is one of the areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
‘Technology’ is one of the three aspects of this area. Technology is a significant influence in the lives of all children. It provides a relevant way to engage children in their learning, particularly if they are able to operate every day technology independently. Reception have been busy using the class camera and ipad to take photographs of their own free choice. The children have been very keen and enthusiastic to take part in the activity; the results have been interesting and varied. An insight into the minds of four and five year olds.
The Year 1 children entertained a large audience on Thursday 23rd May at their ‘Informal Concert’.
The confidence and talent of our five and six year old children shone through. There was an array of solos, duets and quartets with children performing on cellos, violins and violas. The children, who have string lessons with one of our fabulous peripatetic teachers, also learn to play together in Strings Group. All the children have an opportunity to join Buzz Club and Choir. All three of these groups performed, delighting their parents, grandparents, teachers and classmates.
This week the Year 2 children have had some very strange things happening at school!
On their return to their classrooms they have found all sorts of strange things such as little pieces of treasure, a message in a bottle and even an empty treasure chest. The children also received a letter from Blackbeard himself saying that he needs their help to read maps and find the treasure. 2G have been busy writing a letter back to Blackbeard to see how they can help and what he would like them to do. We hope we find the treasure!
