Well done to this week's Stars of the Week!
In Reception we have four ‘Captain Challenge’ activities to complete independently each week in the continuous provision.
A Literacy, Maths, Physical and Personal and Social task. If the children complete all four tasks, then their super hero flies to the top of the mountain on our wall display at the end of the week. This gives purpose to our ‘free’ play as well as a personal challenge. This week our physical challenge included throwing and catching five different sized balls with a partner. Miss Hall has included some practice in her PE lessons; the children enjoyed the lovely sunshine while practising on the field.
This week Year 1 welcomed Mr and Mrs Josephson into school.
The children enjoyed learning about the Jewish Sabbath and how it is celebrated weekly. The children enjoyed a sample of Challah and grape juice. There were many interesting questions asked by the children to develop their knowledge and understanding. It has been a lovely opportunity to share the religious celebrations of people within our school community.
Thank you so much Mr and Mrs Josephson.
This week Year 2 have been writing their own dilemma stories.
The children have taken part in discussing all different types of moral dilemma and have used role-play to explore what they would do in different situations. Year 2 then spent lots of time planning the different sections of their story using ‘story mountains’ and drafting and re-drafting their work to edit and improve it. The children have produced some amazing work and Mr McGadie and Miss Bird are really proud of their efforts!
