Well done to this week's Stars of the Week, pictured below!
Reception are settling very well into their new environment.
The children have made even more friends and have enjoyed exploring all of the different areas of the continuous provision together.
There have been lots of different experiences over the last week including PE lessons, Music lessons and swimming lessons.
The children are learning to be independent, solving problems, taking on responsibilities and facing new daily challenges.
They are learning how to take care of our classroom and each other. Everyone is getting used to the new rhythms and routines of the day.
The children were very excited to begin swimming lessons; they are learning the importance of water safety and listening carefully to the swimming teachers.
Year 1 have been looking at camouflage in our surrounding habitats.
We have visited the school field and looked at the natural colours around.
The children have made butterflies with these colours and we can’t wait to use them in a butterfly hunt.
This week the children worked on missing number problems in their maths.
This helps them to develop the understanding of the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction.
Playdough balls helped the children visualise the calculations and soon many chose to use the number cutters as their knowledge increased.
This week Year 2 have started their Street Detectives topic in Humanities.
The children have been studying changes that have occurred to our local community and really enjoyed looking at old and new photos of Bury.
Some of the children even found old photos of the school. Things looked very different!
Over the next few days the children are going to be busy compiling questions to ask some former pupils who will be visiting us and will have a go at drawing their own maps of the school grounds.
