Year 7 pupil presented with 2019 OGA Scholarship for Charity and Community Service

Old Girls’ Association Chairman, Diana Robinson, presented the 2019 Charity and Community Scholarship to Freya (Year 7) during an Assembly in April.

Freya is the current charity representative. She has already organised a sweet sale for cancer research herself. Outside of school she has raised a lot of money for the ‘Super Josh’ charity.

The Old Girls’ Association hold a raffle to raise money for the Year 7 Charity and Community Scholarship at their annual reunion lunch in September.

The recipient of the award is nominated by the staff and must be able to demonstrate her commitment to this subject and show evidence of what she has already achieved.

Thought and care for others are hallmarks of Bury Grammar School and its pupils. As the recipient of this award, Freya will be required to act as an ambassador in this area throughout her time in School.

The Old Girls’ Association was formed to keep former pupils of BGS in touch with each other and with the School and to offer help and support and networking amongst its members. All school leavers have the opportunity to join the Old Girls’ Association.

Each September a Reunion Lunch is held when Old Girls can go back to School to meet up with their former classmates and to look around the School to see the many changes that have been made since they were pupils.

If you are interested in joining the Association please contact membership secretary, Sharon Blakelock, for more details by emailing sblakelock@burygrammar.com.
