Year 9 boy wins 'Most Outstanding Performance Award' at Pop Show

Josh recently auditioned for the Carol Godby’s Theatre Workshop’s annual Pop Show.

Over 70 acts auditioned, both individuals and groups, for 24 places in the show. Josh was selected to perform in the show all four of the acts that he had auditioned for.

The event took place on the evening of Saturday 19th May 2018 at Middleton Arena, with around 500 people in the audience. Throughout the evening, there were various dance, singing and musical theatre acts.

Josh sang solo, singing ‘Yesterday’ by the Beatles and sang ‘I Miss You’ by Clean Bandit in a small singing group of boys and girls. He also performed in a group dance with two other boys, for which he had put together a medley of music and choreographed the routine. He also performed in a another dance act with his competition team, Blazon, consisting of Josh and nine girls.

The panel of judges consisted of a local business owner and supporter of the children’s charity (when you wish upon a star), two young actresses from Coronation Street and a young gentlemen who has performed all around the world in TV, film, theatres and arenas.

There were three awards up for grabs, the Best Dance Performance, Best Singing Performance and Most Outstanding Performance. After receiving a special mention with regards to his hip hop and street dancing during the evening, Josh went on to win the Most Outstanding Performance award.
