Year 9 visit Holocaust Centre in Nottingham

Year 9 pupils were privileged this week to visit the Holocaust Centre in Nottingham.

They spent the day examining the theme of 'Choices' in the context of the horrific historical events known as the Holocaust.

Exploring the exhibition, placing a stone on the memorial which represents the 1.5 million children murdered by the Nazis and visiting the gardens, where numerous white roses have been dedicated to individuals, families and groups who were killed, provided a valuable opportunity for reflection and remembrance.

The moving testimony of a survivor who escaped the horrors following the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1938 by a stroke of luck - the decision of his father to get his family Hungarian passports - inspired the pupils to challenge prejudice, wherever they encounter it.
