Design & Technology
In Design and Technology, students are offered a unique opportunity to identify and solve real problems by designing and making a range of products and systems.
The department forms part of the Creative and Performing Arts faculty and is situated within a purpose-built facility with cutting edge equipment, including the latest CAD software, an extensive range of CNC machinery, 3D rapid prototyping printer and laser cutter.
In an ever-increasing technological world, students are encouraged to think creatively to design solutions with confidence, considering the requirements of a wide client base. Students across the school, of all ages, are encouraged to extend classroom involvement and participate in extra-curricular clubs and activities. Some exciting events coming up in the next academic year within the department include; Ultimate STEM Challenge, Tenner Challenge, Design Ventura, Product in a Tin Competition, Technology, Design and Innovation (TDI) Challenge and Starpack Awards. Students can also be entered for an Arkwright Scholarship, which is a national award for any learners wishing to pursue a career in Design or Engineering.
