Curriculum

Our ‘all-through’ curriculum best prepares our children for the challenges which lie ahead and at the same time remains true to our tradition of providing an independent, unique and inspirational grammar school education.

Our curriculum model allows our pupils to meet the changing demands of Higher Education and of life beyond BGS; it delivers an impressive enrichment offering, true to our strong tradition of nurturing fully-rounded individuals who have the edge when it comes to embracing life’s opportunities.

Our curriculum has so much to offer. English and Mathematics form an important part of our core timetable owing to their importance in all areas of academic study. Pupils enjoy a broad range of subjects, from CDT, Food Technology to Modern Languages and they experience subjects such as Art, Ceramics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in specialist studios and laboratories. Pupils of all ages are fortunate to benefit from truly first-class sporting facilities including our swimming pool and state of the art 3G pitches. The humanities are delivered by specialist subject staff and offer much in the way of fieldwork and academic enrichment. Computing is taught in IT suites equipped with all the latest technology. Drama and Music are part of the fabric of our school community and showcase the incredible talents of all our pupils both in and out of the classroom.

''Our carefully planned curriculum at BGS provides pupils of all ages with a wealth of opportunity and excitement. Whilst gaining a solid grounding in the traditional core subjects, pupils are also able to explore their interests through the options of The Higher Project Qualification, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award or the vast number of academic enrichment competitions open to them.''
