Sanctas Clavis Fores Aperit

The Key That Open Sacred Doors

Here in our school there is a sacred key:
This shall we find, who seek it faithfully.

Here may we tread the sacred path of truth:
Here may we know the comradeship of youth.

Here find a faith by which spirit soars:
Here turn the key that opens holy doors.

Sanctas clavis fores aperit.

The Old Girls' Association was established by the School alumni as a means of keeping in touch with fellow pupils across the School and across the world.

Life membership is open to all leavers whether after GCSE or A Level and costs £25. Members receive a complimentary copy of The Record, the OGA annual magazine and discounted tickets for OGA events.

Click here to read the latest edition of The Record.

We organise an annual Reunion Lunch in September/October with tours of the School, and we also have a thriving OGA London Branch which hosts an annual lunch in May.

To become a member, simply complete the OGA Application Form and send it together with your payment to Sharon Blakelock, OGA Membership Secretary, Development Office, Farraday House, Bridge Road, Bury, BL9 0HG.

The OGA Annual General Meeting is held in May and all members of the association are welcome.

Margaret Sleigh

The School has received the sad news that Margaret Sleigh died on 5th January in France. Margaret was 81 and passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Margaret taught Home Economics for many years at BGSG, and after her retirement, she and her husband Peter moved from the UK to live firstly in Spain and then in France. Peter died quite suddenly in June 2020, he was 83. Their son Tommy and his partner Coleen live close by in France.

Margaret is the second from the left on the photo,  which include former staff, Pam Woodward, Margaret Sleigh, Do Brookes and Valerie Clarke.

If anyone wishes to send their condolences please email condolences@burygrammar.com and we will them send on to the family.

Dates for your diary

Sadly, the Covid-19 pandemic has prevented us from holding our AGM and much loved Reunion Lunch this year.  We hope to be able to get together in person soon and we will endeavour to confirm the dates for 2021 as soon as we are able.

Best Wishes
