Bury Grammar Schools
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is offered to all pupils from Year 9.
Starting at Bronze level and working through to completing the Gold level Award in the Sixth Form pupils, and students are able to gain credit for many of the activities they do outside of the classroom.
This might involve volunteering with a local sports team, learning to play a musical instrument or improving personal fitness by swimming regularly. At BGS we offer support and help with ideas for activities and then deliver the training and assessment for the expeditions. These start more locally at Bronze level and progress in challenge Grammar Schools The Duke of Edinburgh's Award as students complete their final Gold assessment with wild camping in the remote areas of North Wales.
The DofE Scheme is a great way of learning new skills, developing friendships and demonstrating that our students are multi-dimensional citizens, ready to explore the wider world beyond BGS.
