Bury Grammar School offers an incredible assortment of school trips each year.

The list below includes all of the upcoming major trips.

Further trips may become available throughout the year.

Experience Montenegro with World Challenge - July 2025, Years 9 & 10 (at time of travel)

This is a life-changing opportunity for pupils to explore Montenegro, while developing their life skills, confidence and independence. We’re partnering with World Challenge to offer this 10-night expedition, which complements school learning. 

Pupils will:

  • Discover the largest lakes in the Balkans and visit Lake Skadar
  • Trek beneath mighty peaks and explore Budva and Kotor
  • Trek Durmitor National Park
  • Visit Lovcen National Park.

This once in  lifetime experience will prove just how much you're capable of and may just change the way you see yourself and the world, forever.

Lost Earth Adventures Residential – June 2025, Year 7

This trip to a Lost Earth Adventures Outdoor Education Centre offers a rich experience for our pupils.
 
Skills such as teamwork, communication, confidence building, and leadership are developed in a framework of fun activities ranging from hill walking and climbing, to abseiling and gorge walking.

Hothersall Lodge Residential – May 2025, Year 6

This brilliant residential trip includes plenty of activities and new experiences! With canoeing, rafting, mountain biking, archery, tree climbing, zip wire, adventure gorge and team building activities, there is something for everyone.
Situated in the picturesque Ribble Valley, surrounded by woodland, water and fields, the seven acre grounds and canoe lake offer a great base for our trip!

Ski USA (Jay Peak) Trip – April 2025, Years 11, 12 and 13

We are very pleased to be running a ski trip for pupils in Years 11, 12 and 13 to Jay Peak, USA, in 2025. This is a repeat of the highly successful trip that pupils have enjoyed in previous years. Jay Peak is situated close to the Canadian border and receives over 350 inches of snow per year – twice as much as many other east coast ski resorts. Jay Peak’s abundant natural snowfall and unique terrain combine to make some of the most exciting glade skiing in North America. Jay Peak has 76 diverse trails covering all abilities from beginner to advanced skier.
 
Here is a brief overview of what the trip will include:
  • 5 days of 5-hour ski clinic programme
  • Ski instructors
  • Lift passes
  • Equipment hire
  • Lunches on the mountain
  • Evening entertainment.

Milan Football Tour – April 2025, Year 6

The Primary Division and the Sport Team are taking Year 6 on a Football Tour to Milan in April 2024. The trip is open to all pupils regardless of footballing ability or experience. 
 
Pupils will enjoy:
  • Football training sessions at Inter Milan’s training ground
  • Matches against local opposition
  • A tour of the San Siro stadium and Inter Milan’s Headquarters 
  • Tickets to see a Serie A match at the San Siro.

Llandudno Residential – March 2025, Year 5

Year 5 pupils will experience an exciting 3-day adventure to the beautiful seaside town of Llandudno!
 
On day 1, pupils will explore the historic Conwy Castle, visit the smallest house in Britain, and spend time at the seafront. In the evening, they will have chance to settle into their hotel and enjoy fun group activities like quizzes, beetle drives, and a talent show.
 
Day 2 will see a trip up the Great Orme, exploring the ancient mines, visiting the pier, North Shore seafront and the Looking Glass Ice Cream Parlour. In the evening, there will be more time for group games and entertainment.
 
Before heading home on day 3, pupils will visit the West Shore beach and playground, before enjoying a final group lunch together to end the trip.
 
This jam-packed itinerary is sure to create memories that will last a lifetime!

Edale Residential – March 2025, Year 4

An exciting residential trip, including a full programme of activities, has been arranged for all Year 4 pupils to take part in next year, at YHA Edale Activity Centre. 
 
This fun-filled experience will offer confidence building ways to inspire, motivate and challenge Year 4 through teamwork and physical, outdoor activities!
