Norway Expedition - October 2022Years 10 - 12
We are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to take part in an exciting Geography expedition, a five-day tour of Norway. Pupils will travel with an established and experienced educational tour company, Discover The World. Itinerary highlights include:
- Canoeing through the Norwegian fjords - Hardangerfjord, the world's third largest fjord
- Zip lining, archery, rock climbing in the National Park
- Snowshoeing on Folgefonna glacier
- Hiking the Husedalen Trail, taking in four spectacular waterfalls
- Bergen city tour and time for exploration and shopping
- The breath-taking fjords and waterfalls, with the opportunity to walk behind Steindalsfossen waterfall.
Undoubtedly, the tour will be a once in a lifetime experience and an insight into this spectacular and exciting country that no Geography student would want to miss!
Battlefields Tour - October 2022Years 10 - 13
The Bury Grammar School Battlefields Tour started in 1994 and is one of the longest-established school trips of its kind in the country.
The tour will tell the stories of former Bury Grammar School pupils who served on the Western Front during that terrible conflict. Pupils shall visit the scenes of the battles in which they fought and hear their experiences described in their own words through the letters they sent home.
Junior School Sport Tour Torrevieja Spain - October 2022Year 6
We are delighted to announce a Junior School Sports Tour to Torrevieja in Spain. This is an exciting opportunity for pupils to participate in an international netball and football tour!
This tour will include:
- Football coaching & training session
- Football competition against local football players
- Netball training programme & mini games
- Evening entertainment programme.
Ski USA - April 2023Years 10 - 13
We are very pleased to be running a ski trip to the resort of Jay Peak in Vermont, USA. This is a repeat of the highly successful trip that the School enjoyed in Easter 2019. Jay Peak is situated close to the Canadian border and receives over 350 inches of snow per year – twice as much as many other east coast ski resorts. Jay Peak’s abundant natural snowfall and unique terrain combine to make some of the most exciting glade skiing in North America. Jay Peak has 76 diverse trails covering all abilities from beginner to advanced skier.
Morocco World Challenge - July 2023Years 9 - 10
Working in partnership with World Challenge, Bury Grammar School is excited to give you an opportunity to do something out of the ordinary and join the expedition travelling to Morocco in 2023.
We share a belief that by empowering the students to lead their own expedition, they will go on to live a life of courage, kindness and adventure. From experiencing new cultures to trekking in the wild, the day-to-day challenges of expedition life encourages students to develop life skills and build deeper confidence, resilience and empathy.
With over thirty years’ experience taking away over 8,000 students every year, World Challenge lead the way in quality, safety, ethical community engagement and learning outcomes. Guided by an adult leadership team, they will step out of their comfort zones and take on roles and the leadership of their group.
Dubai - October 2023Years 9 - 11
The Physical Education Department are delighted to be running a Multi Sports tour to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in October 2023.
Below is a snapshot of what the trip is likely to include:
- Training sessions and fixtures against local schools
- Desert Safari with BBQ Dinner
- Dubai Creek
- La Mer Beach
- Wild Wadi Waterpark with lunch
- Yas Marina Circuit, Grand Prix.
