Our Pastoral Structure
Whilst pastoral care is the responsibility of every member of the Bury Grammar School family, we have a dedicated team who monitor and support all our pupils.
In Kindergarten, Infant School and the Junior Schools the Key Worker or Class Teacher have a great deal of contact with each pupil and work hard to care for the pastoral needs of the younger members of our BGS family, working with either the Head of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the Head of Infants and Head of Junior Schools.
In the Senior School, Form Tutors are aware of the individual needs of each pupil, and play a key role in helping to monitor academic performance. Heads of Year have overall responsibility for their year group and work closely with Form Tutors, pupils and parents in order to ensure individual needs are met and any issues addressed as swiftly and effectively as possible.
Heads of Year report to and are supported by the Deputy Head (Pastoral).
All members of staff liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and with the School Health Team in order to ensure that BGS remains a secure environment which promotes the health, welfare and safety of every pupil.
