A Day of Insight and Inspiration

A Day of Insight and Inspiration at Bury Grammar School

Exploring Horizons in Healthcare

On Friday, the 13th of October, Bury Grammar School hosted an enlightening and engaging Medical Careers afternoon in the beautiful Roger Kay Hall. This event was a wonderful opportunity for our students, from Years 11 to 13, to embark on a journey into the world of healthcare professions.

The highlight of the day was a carousel of interactions, where our students had the privilege of engaging with professionals from diverse healthcare fields. These experts generously shared their time, knowledge and invaluable insights with our students, creating a brilliant careers focused event.

Aspiring Futures

The event was designed to foster an understanding of the multitude of careers available within the National Health Service (NHS) and the various educational pathways leading to these roles. Our students took this opportunity to ask questions and gain clarity about the different vocations within the healthcare sector.

We are very grateful to the dedicated individuals who made this event possible – BGS parents, esteemed alumni, and local healthcare professionals who generously volunteered their time. These experts curated interactive stations, each representing a different type of career, including Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Paediatric Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Paramedicine and Social Work.

'While I have already decided on a career in Pharmacy, this afternoon opened my eyes to other roles within the NHS and the various professionals I will collaborate with in the future as part of a multidisciplinary team. This afternoon has made me really excited to start my degree next year' - Year 13 Student

Special thanks to everyone involved in our BGS Careers event.
