Artsmark Gold Award
We are delighted to announce that Bury Grammar School (BGS) has been awarded the Gold Artsmark award!
Here at Bury Grammar School, we ensure that all pupils and students can be creative and have access to a diverse range of high-quality cultural opportunities, from our star quality annual performances to our inspiring art exhibitions, the arts and culture are an integral part of a Bury Grammar School education.
The Artsmark Award, accredited by Arts Council England, is the only creative quality standard for schools and educational settings in the UK. It is designed to help schools embed arts, culture, and creativity across their whole curriculum, celebrating a commitment to a well-rounded cultural education.
Schools can be awarded Silver, Gold, or Platinum Artsmark, based on their achievements. The prestigious Gold award recognises our school's commitment to providing a high-quality arts education for all pupils. It also recognises the excellence of our arts provision, including the range of arts activities offered, the quality of teaching and learning, and the impact of the arts on the lives of our pupils.
To achieve Gold Artsmark, our school underwent a rigorous assessment process, to demonstrate where we embed arts, culture, and creativity across the school. The Artsmark Assessors were particularly impressed by The School's broad and balanced arts curriculum, extensive extra-curricular arts provision, collaboration with other subjects on cross curricular events and our commitment to arts partnerships with external organisations.
Head of Faculty, Creative and Performing Arts, Mrs Kershaw said,
“We are absolutely delighted to have received the Gold Artsmark Award. This is a testament to all the hard work and creative input from our staff, providing the opportunities for our pupils and students to excel in the arts. The arts are essential in promoting creativity, imagination, and self-expression. They help our pupils and students to develop their talents and potential, and to make a positive contribution to society. We are proud to be a school that values the arts so highly, and we are grateful to all the staff involved in any part of putting on creative arts events for all their hard work. This award reflects their commitment and dedication to providing our pupils and students with the best possible arts education.”
The Gold Artsmark award is a testament to the engagement of our pupils in the vast opportunities provided and the hard work and dedication of the School's staff, as well as the commitment of the School's Leadership Team to providing a well-rounded education for all pupils. It is also a recognition of the School's vibrant and supportive arts community.
