Top School in the Area

Bury Grammar School (BGS) has been ranked as the top-performing school in the area in the latest Times League Tables, a significant achievement that reflects the exceptional quality of education offered to pupils.

Top School in Region

There are approximately 7,000 state and independent secondary schools in the UK, including around 2,500 independent schools nationwide.

Bury Grammar School was placed within the top 5% of secondary schools in the country and was the highest-ranking school in North Manchester.

The School attributes its success to the upbeat and vibrant environment, the desire of pupils to learn, the dedication and expertise of teaching and support staff, the all-round education, the strong partnerships with families, and the kind and human approach which underpins the focus on high academic standards.

Commenting on the achievement, the Chair of Governors, Mr Richard Smyth, said:

This outstanding result is a reflection of the clarity of vision, strong governance and unwavering commitment to excellence that defines Bury Grammar School.  We are immensely proud of our pupils and staff, whose hard work and ambition have placed BGS at the very forefront of education both regionally and nationally.

The Principal added:

Education only happens once. We are delighted that our pupils achieve such high academic standards but also that our upbeat, happy and dynamic setting enables them to thrive as human beings who are ready to go out into the world with confidence and positivity. Exam results are extremely important but are just part of this picture. I am tremendously proud of the collective achievements of our school community and of the environment we nurture together for our young people.

Bury Grammar School is committed to offering high quality educational opportunities within a warm and friendly environment and is grateful to the whole school community for their support and commitment to excellence.
