Gold School Mental Health Award
We are proud to announce that Bury Grammar School has been awarded the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools ‘School Mental Health Award’ – Gold Status.
Feedback from Leeds Beckett University indicates that we are 'Excelling' across all eight of the competencies and framework used to assess schools.
This recognition is a testament to our dedication to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for the mental well-being of our pupils and staff, where excellence in education meets a commitment to mental health!
Three years ago, we were awarded the Bronze achievement and after building on this success through the ongoing development of wellbeing and mental health strategies, structures and practices, we are delighted to have now achieved Gold status, enhancing and extending the principles that had already been an integral part of our culture and ethos.
We are proud to share some of our initiatives:
Our Principal and Governors are passionate about their work in this area and share this at a national level and incorporate strategies that address the well-being of pupils on multiple levels.
Our nine, trained, mental health first aiders support all areas across our 45-acre campus.
We aim to understand the unique challenges students face and implementing targeted solutions, engaging with our school community, fostering a sense of belonging and support among students, parents, and staff.
Our Mental Health Lead, Mrs Robinson said,

Our dedicated team will continue to explore new initiatives, collaborate with mental health experts, and prioritise the well-being of our school community.”
