Primary Division Reflections 2024-2025

A Word from our Head of Infants

As my first year as Head of Infants draws to a close, I have been reflecting on what a truly special year it has been. I feel incredibly proud of our pupils, grateful to our families for their continued support, and thankful to be part of such a caring, vibrant school community. I also feel incredibly privileged to work with such a talented group of professionals here at Bury Grammar School. It really is quite a remarkable place to be!

There have been so many memorable moments – our Christmas Concert was a festive delight, showcasing the pupil's confidence and creativity. Later in the year, our Summer Concert performance of Rockpool was another joyful celebration of talent, teamwork and imagination. From the excitement of Sports Day to the quiet, proud moments when pupils pop into my office or classroom to share their achievements, every day has brought something to smile about. In fact, some of my most memorable moments with the pupils are the day-to-day moments of excitement in their learning.

Welcoming our new Reception children – and those joining us across the School – has been a highlight. Watching them settle, grow and thrive has been a privilege. I've also loved having the opportunity to teach in Year 2 and being part of their learning journey, helping them to prepare for the next stage of their education.

Our school trips and visits have brought learning to life, and it's been wonderful to hear the pupils recount their experiences with such enthusiasm. Whether they’re talking about something big or small, I’m always struck by their passion, resilience, and curiosity.

Looking ahead, I’m excited for what the new academic year will bring – especially the relaunch of our Pre-School provision. It will be wonderful to welcome even more young learners into our community and to spend more time with our incredible pupils and their families.

Thank you all for making this first year so rewarding and enjoyable. I look forward to many more years ahead. Have a wonderful summer and see you in September!

Reflections from our Head of Juniors

As the academic year ends, I’ve been reflecting on what a brilliant and rewarding year it has been. A huge thank you to all the pupils and families for welcoming me so warmly into this wonderful school community. Whether it was a friendly word at the door or a chat on the playground, your kindness has made a significant difference.

This year has been filled with exciting moments and achievements. Our pupils’ happiness and love of learning are at the heart of everything we do, and it’s been a pleasure to see them thrive in such a positive, supportive atmosphere. We want every child to not only learn but to feel happy and confident every step of the way — and that’s exactly the environment we are proud to nurture here a BGS.

We are incredibly proud of Year 6 pupils and all they have achieved and will certainly miss them, but we know they will call in to see us from time to time! At the same time, we warmly welcome our current Year 2 pupils who will be joining us in Juniors this year — we look forward to helping them to settle in and grow over the coming months.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible teachers whose commitment, dedication, and positivity, support and inspire our pupils each day. Their love for teaching and passion are what make this school such a special place.

Looking ahead, there are so many exciting things planned for the next academic year, and I can’t wait to share them with you and to continue this journey together.

I wish you all a restful and enjoyable summer holiday. Thank you once again for your ongoing support — here’s to many more wonderful years ahead!
