Sister Act: A Show of Talent, Teamwork and Triumph

Bury Grammar School was thrilled to present this year’s major production - Sister Act - and what a show it was! After months of dedication, creativity and collaboration, the show lit up the stage and delighted audiences with every performance.

This production conveyed real teamwork across our Senior School pupils and Sixth Form students. They took on every role imaginable - from cast and crew to the talented members of the orchestra - showcasing not only their performance skills but also their professionalism, commitment and passion for the Arts.

The costumes and makeup brought each character to life with flair, while the set and props transformed the stage into a vibrant world of charisma and charm. Behind the scenes, the technical crew worked tirelessly, ensuring seamless transitions, lighting and sound that elevated every scene. The orchestra provided outstanding live music, adding energy and emotion that made the show unforgettable.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in making Sister Act such a success. We are especially grateful to our Head of Drama, Director and Production Manager, Mrs Charlesworth, and Director of Music, Miss Downing, whose vision, leadership, and unwavering support guided the production from the very first rehearsal to the final curtain call. They were closely supported throughout by Miss Peverell, Mrs Dickson and Choreographer, Mrs Bennett Price. Our Stage Manager, Miss Taberham, also received invaluable assistance from Miss Maldonado Lopez, Miss McCammon, and Mrs Willis, ensuring every detail ran smoothly both on stage and behind the scenes.

This performance truly showcased the talent, dedication, and spirit of our pupils, students, staff, and community – we are very proud indeed!

Mrs Anderson, Principal, told us,

“I am incredibly proud of our pupils for their outstanding performances in Sister Act. This was an exuberant production, full of energy, incredible music, lots of glitter, and very many comedic moments. Most of all, I loved the fact that our very talented pupils were clearly having the time of their lives.

It is quite something to see pupils grow into bigger roles over the years in our annual production and note the incredible confidence they gain. Our Y13 pupils excelled, but so also did many younger performers, whom I'm sure we'll be seeing again on the stage.

The fact that the words 'memories' and 'memorable' appeared eight times in the performers' programme biographies tells you how much these experiences mean to them. BGS musicals play an enormous part in the life of our school and wouldn’t happen without the commitment and enthusiasm of many teachers and support staff – a huge thank you to them for nurturing such performing skills and passion.

This was a brilliant showcase of the talent, hard work, camaraderie and teamwork of BGS pupils and staff!!!”

“I am incredibly proud of every pupil involved in the production - it is a privilege to work with such talented and positive young people. What always stands out for me, each year, is not just the brilliant performances, but how well our pupils support one another and come together as a team. It's always great to see pupils form lasting friendships and memories with peers from across different year groups and our older pupils leading the way for our 'stars' of the future.”
