BGS Hosts visit from Shanghai Educationalists

Bury Grammar School was delighted to welcome a group of Chinese Head Teachers from Shanghai into school this week.  The purpose of the group’s visit was to gain an insight into the UK education system.  We were honoured to be able to host the educational leaders from many of Shanghai’s top schools, and staff and pupils from all parts of school enjoyed showcasing just how much BGS has to offer.

All of the group were extremely complimentary about our school, with a number of them even expressing a wish to relocate their families to allow their children to attend BGS!  The group were delighted to have lunch with our Mandarin and Cantonese speaking pupils, engaging in many exciting conversations, and it is fair to say the BGS pupils enjoyed it equally!

It really was a fantastic day for all involved, and the visitors commented on the happiness within our school, the passion from our teachers and how in awe they were of our ‘very talented, polite and well-educated pupils’.  The group found the BGS curriculum to be very impressive and were astounded by the number of enrichment activities on offer to all our pupils.  They said that, while they had visited many different schools on their trip, their trip to BGS had by far been the best one!

This visit marks the start of what we hope will be a strong and productive partnership between BGS and schools in Shanghai, and we are excited at the prospect of developing additional international links for our school community.

We would like to thank all those who were involved in making the day extremely successful.
