Boys' Junior School

Welcome to Bury Grammar Boys' Junior School!

Our Boys’ Junior School is steeped in tradition, based in the old Bury Court House, yet firmly focussed on the best aspects of contemporary education.

With a wide and varied creative curriculum, centred on enquiry-based, independent learning, the pupils have a huge array of opportunities to take their education in new and exciting directions.  The curriculum is enhanced with many trips and visits during the year including residential visits from Year 3 to Year 6. The pupils benefit from an active, problem solving education, focused on building resilience and positive attitudes to learning. High expectations are embedded throughout our school aims, we are incredibly proud of our pupils and their contributions to whole school life.

A firm commitment to excellent pastoral care as well as an ever-growing list of enrichment activities provides the pupils with boundless opportunities to thrive. We firmly believe that this is learning for all. That each pupil will find their own sphere of excellence, whether in the traditional core areas of Maths, English and Science or by following a more creative, artistic, musical or sporting route.

The warm, caring atmosphere, dedicated and committed staff and superb facilities ensure that every child has the potential to achieve excellence here at BGS, in whichever direction that may lie.

The result of a BGS Junior education? Every chance of succeeding and being happy at Senior School and in life beyond.

The atmosphere in our Boys' Junior School is something upon which many visitors comment: it is lively, life-affirming and totally unique! We look forward to welcoming you into school to look around and meet our pupils and staff.

With best wishes

Mrs Chrissy Howard, Primary Principal

''Since he has joined the school our son has transformed: now he is more keen, enthusiastic and eager to learn.  He now relishes homework and enjoys the variety of the lessons which are made fun and interesting.  We are very proud of him and think the staff at BGS should be equally proud of the difference they are making; it goes to show that every child has it in them to be brilliant, but this is never possible without the right environment and encouragement ''

BGS Junior School Parent
