Boys' Junior School
Welcome to Bury Grammar Boys' Junior School!
As part of one of the leading Preparatory Schools in the North West of England, Our Boys’ Junior School is steeped in tradition, based in the old Bury Court House, yet is firmly focused on the best aspects of contemporary education.
With an innovative, wide and varied creative curriculum, centered on enquiry-based, independent learning, the pupils have a huge array of opportunities and state-or-the-art facilities to take their education in new and exciting directions. The curriculum is enhanced with many experiential activities along with trips and visits during the year including residential visits from Year 3 to Year 6. The pupils benefit from an active, problem solving education, focused on building resilience and positive attitudes to learning. High expectations, reaching potential and excellence in all we do are embedded throughout our school aims, we are incredibly proud of the people we help our pupils become during their learning journey with us and their contributions to whole school life and beyond.
We are also a school which excels in the care we take of our children and the additional opportunities we offer. A firm commitment to excellent pastoral care as well as an ever-growing list of enrichment activities provides the pupils with boundless opportunities to thrive. We firmly believe that this is learning for all. That each pupil will find their own sphere of excellence, whether in the traditional core areas of Maths, English and Science or by following a more creative, artistic, musical or sporting route.
The warm, caring atmosphere dedicated and committed staff and superb facilities ensure that every child has the potential to achieve excellence here at BGS, in whichever direction that may lie.
The result of a BGS Junior education?
The best possible start, and potential to succeed. We are an integral part of the BGS learning journey from cygnets to swans and have the expertise in developing our young boys perfectly so that they are prepared for the rigors of life at Senior School and education beyond.
The atmosphere in our Boys' Junior School is something upon which many visitors comment: it is lively, life-affirming and totally unique! We receive our eager young children from the Infant School and nurture them perfectly so that they are ready to be passed up to the Senior Schools as they continue their exciting educational journey with us.
We look forward to welcoming you to look around and meet our pupils and staff.
With best wishes,
Mr Andrew Sheppeck, Primary Deputy Principal
Head of Junior Boys
