Supporting Learning

At Bury Grammar School we understand that the key to academic success is a strong home-school partnership. We also recognise that the journey to academic success is not always easy for pupils or parents. We are extremely proud of our Academic Intervention programme which ensure that all pupils are supported in their learning and that parents are well informed and equipped with practical strategies to support their pupils with their studies.

Following the half termly interim reports, Heads of Faculty and Head of Year meet to identify any pupils who are in need of support and any who have achieved considerable success over the course of the half term. Intervention strategies are agreed and implemented ahead of the start of the following half term. These strategies range from pupil progress meetings, parental meetings, support in workshops or clinics, regular form tutor meetings or assistance with organisation. Head of Year and Heads of Faculty will also reward excellent achievement and hard work through letters home or postcards congratulating pupils who have worked hard and demonstrated an excellent approach to their studies. We ensure that our parents and pupils are always supported and have every resource available to them to ensure success.
