Healthy Eating

A dynamic service

BGS’s inhouse catering team provide a range of food services for pupils across our campus as well as hospitality catering for a vast array of school events throughout the year.

Whilst we provide a separate dining room for our youngest pupils located within the EYFS area of school, most year groups dine in the central school dining rooms. The Sixth Form have their own separate cafeteria and barista style facility within the Sixth Form Centre.

A flexible approach

Pupils can choose to either purchase a selection of food from our dining rooms or can bring a packed lunch from home. We operate a cashless catering facility through ParentPay software.

Kindergarten and Primary Division pupils are offered lunch and the younger pupils are also offered a selection of healthy snacks during the day. Senior pupils and Sixth Formers are offered breakfast and lunch.

The School Food Plan

We provide a healthy and balanced range of food that is popular and nutritious and is fully compliant with The School Food Plan, an agreed plan supported by the Department for Education and other organisations, to promote healthy eating in schools. We ensure that the menus we offer have the correct nutritional balance for children of different ages and are fully allergen compliant and adhere to portion size guidelines.

We offer a wide range of hot and cold food that is produced on site using fresh, locally sourced and seasonal produce wherever possible.

Pupils can select from a wide choice of vegetarian, vegan, fish, halal dishes and meat dishes, we ensure that all pupils can choose from a selection of hot meals, fresh sandwiches, rolls and paninis, pasta and deli pots, salads, desserts, yoghurts and fruit each day. Pupils are also welcome to bring a packed lunch.
