Where to Eat at BGS
We cater for pupils from the age of 3 years up to the age of 18 years.
All pupils can choose daily from a choice of 2 or 3 main home cooked, hot dishes, a choice of fresh sandwiches rolls and ciabattas (made in-house), salad bar, pasta dishes or baked jacket potatoes with various fillings as well as a choice of puddings which include homemade bakery products, fresh fruit salad or a choice of yoghurts. Drinks are also available but we encourage pupils to drink plenty of water which is provided free of charge in the dining rooms.
Different age groups have different catering facilities and options. These are:
Kindergarten: Kindergarten pupils have lunch and snacks in a dining room located within the Kindergarten setting. As well as providing a healthy lunch from a wide variety of choices, the pupils have an ongoing snack system in their classrooms, where they can choose a snack from the snack table whenever they feel hungry. These snacks comply with our healthy eating policies and include rice cakes, fresh fruit, yoghurt, a selection of cheeses, mini raisin packs, milk and water.
Infant, Junior and Senior Schools: Pupils are served lunch in our main dining halls at staggered times to ensure the younger pupils eat first. The dining halls, (separate for boys and girls) are large, modern, well-equipped refectories. Both dining halls have recently undergone significant refurbishment. Our Reception pupils have an ongoing healthy snack system, similar to that in the Kindergarten.
Sixth Form: Following the opening of our new Sixth Form Centre we now have a coffee bar and café for exclusive use by our sixth formers. This facility serves barista style coffee, as well as a range of drinks and café style food throughout the day providing a relaxed environment that our sixth formers love!
