Mental Health

A child’s time at school is an important time to equip them to understand, protect and sustain their mental health throughout their school career and beyond.
It is undoubtedly true that while many young people seem to sail easily through adolescence into adulthood, others find the process much more difficult to navigate and need a bit of extra support along the way.
BGS Mental Health Ambassadors

Peer support is something young people identify as critical to the development of their mental health. The Department of Health also recognise that peer support provides an important opportunity to develop well-being within young people.

The Bury Grammar School Mental Health Ambassador Programme launched in April 2018. Our ambassadors have completed a rigorous training programme and are ready to support their peers in school providing support, advice and information on mental health, well-being and self-esteem.

The Ambassadors join our established pastoral support network available to pupils and have each demonstrated care, compassion, empathy and respect for others. Pupils can be sure there is always someone to listen.
